How To Treat Acne

Early last year, around march to be precisely, I spent days distressing over monumental, pesky, uninvited pimples, trying everything in the market and spending hours reading reviews about product after product and being able to figure out what would work for my skin and nothing in the market was close to helping!

If, I did find a product with great reviews I could not get my hands on it since, of course! it was not available in India and if at all it was available , it was priced at a 1000 dollars, I might be exaggerating just a tiny tiny bit ha ha, but this was unimaginably depressing, to wake up every morning and look at my skin and not being able to do anything about those horrendous acne. I waited for a couple of months hoping it would go away but it refused to leave.

Finally after weeks of contemplating I decided to go to the dermatologist, still hoping it would vanish on the way to the clinic as I despise going to a doctor, any doctor.. I payed a visit to  Kosmoderma's branch in indiranagar, (it is one of the best in India, so if you're looking for a dermatologist you should pay a visit to them)

Having, not realized the importance of a dermatoligist's opinion on my skin, I went there and had one of the doctors explain to me what might be going on with my skin and what might be causing acne and learnt the importance of their opinion.

Privileged to be your uncertified dermatologist for the day, I'd be going theough a bit about acne and ways you can prevent it and keep them at bay.

What is acne?

A skin condition characterized by red pimples on the skin, especially on the face, due to inflamed or infected sebaceous glands and prevalent chiefly among adolescents.

What causes acne?
Acne occurs when the pores on your skin become blocked with oil, dead skin, or bacteria. Each pore on your skin is the opening to a follicle. The follicle is made up of a hair and a sebaceous (oil) gland. The oil gland releases sebum (oil), which travels up the hair, out of the pore, and onto your skin which causes acne.

Other causes:

1. Junk Food
2. Rosacea
3. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
4. Hyperhidrosis Disorder (Excessive Sweating)
5. PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome)
6. Excessive Or Unwanted Hair In Women...

How to treat acne?

There are a number of ways you can treat acne and I have tried most of them from tooth paste to salicylic acid and even garlic. Sadly, none of them worked. After, paying a visit to the dermatologist she gave me a list of products and steps on how to use them.

Step one: Find a mild face wash, its important that you don't use something that is harsh and would irritate your skin. Cetaphil and Kosmoderma's face wash are great for this.

Step two: Tone. I used the Clinique toner as it is my all time favorite. Why? Because it removes dirt and oil on my skin upto a pinprick.
Step three: Apply an anti bacterial cream. I used the Faceclin all over the affected area and let it dry for a couple of minutes.
Step four: Once the Faceclin dried I used a cream called Epitheliaie all over the face in generous amounts. This particular cream helps in reconstruction of the skin.
( All the products should be available in a drugstore except Kosmoderma products which are only available at their clinics )
Note: Step 3 is to be done on alternate days. Also, the faceclin dries the skin so it is very important to use a great moisturizer on the rest of the days.

Diet: Hydrate, hydrate and hydrate. Water is great to get rid or toxins and chemicals from your body. A great healthy diet with tons of vegetable and protein is the secret to great glowing skin. Junk food is not the key to it!

Exercise: Working out is another important factor too as sweating helps to get out all the toxins and trust me I could see the difference in my skin when I worked out everyday when compared to lazying around.

That's about it for great skin! Also, this is what worked for me after a couple of weeks and might not work for everyone.
